Remember God’s Word

Image
In 2 Peter 3, the apostle writes to “stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance.” He points us back to two anchors: the words of the prophets and the commandments of the apostles. Both flow from the Spirit of God and keep us grounded when the world seems unsteady. Peter warns that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the promise of Christ’s return and walking after their own lusts. Their denial is not from ignorance alone—it is willful. They choose to forget God’s creation, the flood, and the coming judgment. To them, nothing has ever changed, so why believe in salvation? Yet their arguments reveal hearts centered on self rather than God. But Peter comforts us with God’s patience. The Lord is not slack concerning His promises; instead, He is longsuffering, “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” His seeming delay is grace, giving space for salvation. So how should we live? Peter answers: “What manner of persons ought ye to be in al...

Leap with Joy!

Luke 6:23 – “Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.” We usually think of hardship as something to endure with gritted teeth. Yet Jesus turns that thinking upside down. When ridicule or rejection comes because of our faith, He doesn’t tell us to simply hang on—He tells us to rejoice and even leap for joy . That sounds impossible until we remember why: suffering for Christ links us with the prophets of old who also bore insults for speaking God’s truth. Matthew records the same teaching in a deeply personal way: “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake” (Matt. 5:11). Notice the direct address— “are ye.” Jesus is speaking to us individually. He reminds us that false accusations and slander are not signs of failure; they are part of following Him. After all, if they misrepresented Jesus Hi...

Faithful Ministry: Embracing Honesty and Transparency

Ministry is never meant to be carried out in our own strength. We serve because God has shown us mercy, and that mercy keeps us from losing heart. When we understand that the work belongs to Him, not us, we can press forward with confidence even when circumstances seem overwhelming. True servants of Christ renounce dishonesty and hidden motives. There is no need for manipulation or deceit when the truth of God’s Word is enough. The calling is to present the gospel plainly, commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. When our lives and words are transparent, people see not clever arguments, but the sincerity of Christ shining through. Yet there are times when the message seems veiled. Not everyone sees the light of the gospel immediately. The god of this world blinds minds, keeping people from recognizing the glory of Christ. This should not discourage us but remind us that salvation is a work of God’s Spirit. Our role is to faithfully hold up the light, trus...
